ImageNet is Using HP's Latest Software Innovations to Transform Managed Print Services

October 29, 2019 at 9:36 AM / by Matthew Schotten - VP of Managed Print Services

HP continues to innovate and has announced its latest printing innovations, including 50 launch applications, that enable the digital & mobile workforce to seamlessly integrate paper and digital workstreams.

As a Premier HP Partner, we are thankful for our partnership with HP and their continued innovation.  HP Roam, new security management capabilities, and HP Workpath Apps are exciting for us as a partner, but also for our customers.  Our customers are looking to ImageNet and HP to improve experiences, optimize processes, and improve overall business outcomes.   These new solutions make those promises possible.

Changing the Definition of Managed Print Services (MPS)

HP’s mobile, security, and workflow innovations help re-define the acronym MPS.  While Managed Print Services is the primary definition, we feel there are other definitions that increase that value proposition.

Make Printing Simple with HP Roam

One definition of the acronym MPS may “Make Printing Simple.”  HP Roam is an innovative offering and will make that promise true.  Modern mobile workers expect to be able to work anywhere, any time. While modern mobile operating systems, Wi-Fi networks, and cloud-based applications have made that possible and easy, printing is often a bottleneck in their workflow.  HP Roam removes this bottleneck with an exceptional, easy to use experience.  One PC driver, one mobile print path, and location-aware printers make this an easy and intuitive process.

Make Printing Secure with HP Security Manager and SDS

Another definition of MPS is “Make Printing Secure.” The new capabilities of HP’s Security Manager allow us to deliver on HP's promise of the world’s most secure printers.  At ImageNet, we have developed a strong practice of Print Security as a Service powered by HP Security Manager, bundled with our ongoing consulting practices. However, this practice has only been aimed at the enterprise. Leveraging the cloud with HP SDS delivers an essential security policy of the most common configurations and enables us to scale this to customers of all sizes.

Make Processes Simple with HP Workpath

The final alternative definition of MPS is “Make Processes Simple.” We have been successful for years in delivering on-premise solutions that improve mobility, print security, cost-accountability, and scan workflows. However, because of the cost and complexity of these on-premise solutions, they most often were targeted at larger organizations.

In the modern office, IT technology innovations are built around business processes with modern architecture and mobile-first and cloud-first methodology.   These IT investments are incredibly powerful, easy-to-use, and scalable. Modern mobile devices and the applications that power them may be the best example of that.  On my phone, I have incredibly powerful apps that allow me to access information in the cloud, trigger business processes, or deliver services.  In the last 24 hours, I have opened doors at my office and hotel with a single click.  I have checked in for flights and rented cars in just a few taps. I have accessed information in our CRM and checked on tasks and project milestones at the office. HP Workpath is offering us the opportunity to do the same type of innovation and customization around business processes that involve paper. HP Workpath will allow us to deliver on powerful yet simple solutions to organizations of all sizes.

How ImageNet is Implementing HP Workpath Innovation

We have previewed the 50 launch applications and feel that every customer could benefit from one or more of these to “Make Processes Simple” when using their HP MFP's. This could be as simple as connecting the device to a cloud repository like OneDrive, Box, or Google Drive or leveraging investments in fax servers and document management systems by making it easier to get documents in and out of those systems and trigger business processes faster.  However, that is just the beginning. Thinking about how vertical market specific applications can be implemented in education, legal, or healthcare is transformational.

HP WorkPath & ImageNet Wallboard

As an HP WorkPath Developer, we now have the invaluable ability to develop custom applications to meet a specific customer’s needs or improve their experience with HP MFP's. We have just completed the latter for a customer and our goal was to personalize the experience when using HP MFP’s. At ImageNet, we have an existing business that revolves around digital signage and our software product, Wallboard, is the power behind our offering. Wallboard is a robust digital display software solution allowing organizations to create content aligned with organizational culture and brand and then manage, schedule, and syndicate that content to cloud connected displays.

Wallboard and the Impact on Employee Engagement

Wallboard is a communication management platform that enables organizations to broadcast strategic and consistent messaging aligned with organizational culture and brand. The platform can send this digital content to large displays, desktops, mobile, and now with HP workflow, to every HP MFP device.
Our customers using Wallboard have improved employee engagement through the strategic use of their internal communications, made possible with Wallboard. By reinforcing mission statements, providing metrics for sales teams, customer service centers, or supply chain management, or displaying customer feedback, employee productivity, motivation, and overall engagement increases. Small changes in employee engagement has proven to have huge impacts on overall business success. According to an analysis of 1.4 million employees conducted by the Gallup Organization, highly engaged organizations have double the rate of success of lower engaged organizations.

With Wallboard, extending a personalized solution to the cloud connected display of an HP Workpath MFP is a very natural extension of the modern workplace. Organizations can extend communication and reach efforts by increasing impressions of their corporate messaging and communications.

Looking Forward with ImageNet & HP

In summary, I think all these things discussed today will lead to tremendous brand loyalty to ImageNet and the HP Solutions we provide. By focusing on highly customized, personalized devices designed around improving experiences and increasing business outcomes, we will see the following returns:

  1. By growing our business with HP, these offerings will increase our win rates and improve competitive differentiation.

  2. Create new business opportunities associated with subscription services and SaaS MPS offerings.

  3. Most importantly, these efforts will create more brand loyalty and stickiness.

Providing highly customized and uniquely tailored solutions will ensure renewals and customers for life.
